P.A Hollingworth has been appointed for the contract for the comprehensive refurbishment and sensitive extension to modernise this elegant Grade II listed four-storey Georgian townhouse situated prominently on the Herne Bay seafront.

The scope of works includes the full refurbishment across all 4 floors along with extensive structural alterations and tanking works to the lower ground floor. Restoration of the original Georgian features and fabric of the building, including repairs to the lathe and plaster walls and ceilings, cornices, fireplaces and sash windows.

Construction of a new 3-storey extension to the rear of the property, including a sunken terrace area that ties in with the lower ground floor garden room. The extension is set to have a lead flat roof, white render external walls and new double-glazed timber sash windows. The new kitchen, an ensuite and a plant room will be incorporated within the extension.

Internally, we are refurbishing and reinstating many lost historical details of the building, and whilst trying to preserve original proportions, we are introducing subtle structural alterations within the building to improve spatial flow and create modern living spaces.

Upgrades to all services, including new heating, plumbing, electrics and ventilation integrated discreetly to respect the building’s heritage.

The project is due for completion later this year with the aim to beautifully restore and extend this townhouse that honours its Georgian heritage while delivering bright, practical spaces for contemporary living.
