P A Hollingworth & Co Ltd were contracted to provide a quiet area to one of the classrooms and a new staff room.
This is a school for which we provided a new building incorporating 3 classrooms and stores several years ago. This project was to provide two additional smaller extensions. The first was of timber frame construction over a block and beam floor with a flat, warm deck, roof, all clad in vertical larch boarding. This space was an addition to one of the classrooms we provided within the last project and is to be used as a quiet space adjacent to the main classroom along with a store.
The second of the two extensions were more traditional looking, a timber frame with a brick outer skin, which matches the previous building, over a block and beam floor and with a pitched roof annexed into the main existing roof and plain clay tile clad. This extension to an existing storeroom, along with some internal alteration has provided a new staff-room including a kitchen area, storeroom and open seating area with plenty of data desks for teachers to work at.
External works to landscape to the rear and side of the school was in part carried out by PA Hollingworth & Co and part-funded and carried out by volunteers. This has provided a great addition to the outside space for the children at the school.
Project Completed in January 2019.
Feedback:
The school were thrilled with the extra space both inside and out. It was money well spent to provide this thriving rural school with additional space and facilities especially a much-needed Staff Room.
