Passive Fire Protection (PFP) systems are a means of containing or slowing, the spread of fires through a building using fire-resistant walls, floors, ceilings, doors etc. All PFP materials and systems must comply manufacturer’s instructions and current building regulations to provide the effectiveness expected.
Passive fire protection includes compartmentalisation of the overall building by using fire resistance rated walls, floors, doors etc. The overall organization of space/building into smaller compartments, consisting of one or more rooms or floors, or breaking up lengths of corridors, prevents or slows the spread of fire from the original location of the fire to other areas of the building. Thus, limiting building damage whilst providing more time for the building occupants to evacuate the building and reach designated assembly points in relative safety.
P.A. Hollingworth & Co carry out works relating to the supply and installation of passive fire protection systems to new and existing buildings in accordance with the Approved Document B of Building Regulations and is an Approved Installer of Envirograf passive fire protection products.
