A new 2 bedroom residential dwelling in the heart of the conservation area in Deal, Kent. Necessitated the demolition of some existing indoor garden rooms and the founding of the new dwelling over the remnants of a basement belonging to a bungalow with a basement, which predated the garden rooms. This project was due before the pandemic but was finally handed over to the clients in late spring 2021. The new dwelling ground floor makes use of existing boundary walls and party walls, added to which are new face brick elevations to the frontage. The first floor has a vaulted ceiling covering a timber frame with exposed oak joists and rafters throughout.
The external elevations are to be a mix of coloured render, timber cladding and zinc sheeting with a zinc sheet roof covering and “catslide” glazed roof over the stairwell. We worked very hard with a great designer who was, in turn, working hard with us to produce something special for this project. The finished property is a building that sits comfortably within the conservation area, ticking all the boxes regarding overlooking and privacy of neighbouring properties, whilst providing our clients with a modern home, fit for the future and full of intrigue.
