To construct a new build stand-alone home for young people living with disabilities. The building consists of 5 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, sensory room, lounge, dining room, kitchen, nurses station and boiler room. This project was mostly of single-storey construction with a meeting room constructed in the roof space, accessed via a concrete staircase from the entrance hall.
Opened by Her Royal Highness, Princess Anne, the construction is of traditional foundations below a suspended block and beam floor. Facing brickwork exterior walls with a full fill cavity and block inner and all internal walls. A pitched roof of part truss and part cut and pitched construction is weathered with Marley Modern interlocking tiles. This building is well appointed with all the equipment needed to provide staff with everything they need to care for the residents, including hoists, rise and fall baths etc. Due to the remote location, also installed as part of the build, a Cummins auto transfer and UPS emergency power generator.
